Comanche Mercantile, slap dab in the center of Texas  and crossroad of three major highways HWY 16 north to south and HWY 36 & 377 east and west, luring visitors and locals to stop, relax, step back in time, and find the treasures.

The Mercantile offers a unique business’ non-profit solution to local artisans, providing added income for over forty families in the area.  Created to show case beautiful, hand crafted items, this unique frontier-town general store offers treasures for all ages.   The idea formed when the hundred-year-old Higginbotham Hardware building was donated to Revitalize Comanche.  When renovation begin we wanted something for Comanche that would continue to bring tourists and locals downtown.  The entire restoration was completed by volunteer labor and made possible by donations.  Garry Luker a long time resident provided the much needed donation for heating and cooling of the Mercantile General Store that opened in November 2017.

The Mercantile accepts many kinds of hand made items juried by the Revitalize Comanche board.

The Mercantile has one paid staff and  everything else is operated with volunteers

Threads of Hope

     Threads of hope is  a room full of fabric, sewing notions, patterns  and many more items to use for crafting.  You will find the best ribbon, trims and lace around.  This is the place to go if you want material to upholster an item, make a purse, or curtains for you home.  There is fabric for quilting and making clothing if you can sew this is the place for you. Threads of Hope also has lots of vintage linens to use or repurpose.

Vintage Treasures takes up the very back of the Mercantile Building. This is a consignment area for used furniture.  Furniture can be found new, like new, and ready to refurbish. You can purchase a DIY project and fabric to finished it all in a one stop shop. There is also books and lots of interesting antiques and more fabric and linens.  New items come in everyday so check back often or you may miss that good deal you are looking for.
